Visting Artist: Monica Currie-Johnson

Piece by Piece welcomed back visiting artist Monica Currie-Johnson in September to inspire participants and teach a workshop using stacked glass in thinset. Although the projects were small in size, they were big in concept. In addition to working with a different adhesive, artists looked at composition, color and dimension.

Monica has a reputation for pushing the creative envelope and the presentation of her work prompted many questions and enthusiasm, and also encouraged participant artists to experiment with their own projects.

The end result was a rich array of creativity and a wealth of knowledge that will undoubtedly filter into new projects. “I learned so much from Monica,” one artist said. “She really brings great new ideas and she inspires me to try different things in my mosaics.”
