Los Angeles, CA - Piece by Piece is excited to announce that together with Foster Love our “Pieces of Love” proposal is a finalist on the L.A. REPAIR Participatory Budgeting Grant for Southeast LA. This grant program, organized by the LA Civil Rights Department, allows the community to decide how LA City dollars are spent in their neighborhood. Up to six proposals and $1.5 million dollars will be awarded to the proposals with the most vote.

"Pieces of Love" is a collaborative effort between Piece by Piece and Together We Rise (operating as Foster Love). The initiative aims to meet the immediate needs of at-risk transitional-age youth, adults, and families by providing them with wrap-around support that includes rent assistance, healing arts programming, and transportation. Healing arts wellness classes will be offered at Piece by Piece and at additional community locations where there is a need for arts programming. In partnership with the Skid Row Arts Alliance, the community arts festival and wellness fair will be hosted in the community.

"We are honored to be a part of the L.A. REPAIR Participatory Budgeting Grant and Proposal F," said Maggie Bohlman, Executive Director of Piece by Piece. "We believe that 'Pieces of Love' will make a significant impact on the lives of the transitional-age youth, adults, and families in Southeast LA, who have experienced economic hardship or homelessness."

"Residents of Southeast LA who are over 15 years old are eligible to vote for their three favorite proposals until April 30, 2023," Bohlman added. "We urge everyone in the community to participate in this democratic process and support our proposal by voting for 'Pieces of Love' at REPAIR.lacity.org."
